Using Criteria
18 01 2008A “real world” circumstance where I have used criteria to make a decision was choosing a college to attend. Choosing a college was a very important decision I had to make and I wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision. Therefore, I used several criteria to make that decision. My first criterion that I used was whether the college had a good science program, since I wanted to major in biology. I wanted to make sure that the university I chose offered my major. The second criterion that I used was how much scholarship I would receive from the university. Money was a large factor in which college I chose. My third and final criterion that I used was whether I liked the campus and living environment. Since I would be living on campus, the living environment was very important.
I chose Bowling Green State University because it met all of the criteria that I was looking for in a university. First, Bowling Green does carry my major and does have a fairly good science program. Second, BG offered the most scholarship money out of all the universities that I was looking at. Third, I really liked Bowling Green’s campus and the dorms that I would be living in.
Overall, the criteria that I set for deciding a college really helped me make my decision. I stated the three most important things that I was looking for in a college and found what I wanted fairly easily. If I had not used criteria to choose my college, it would have taken a very long time to decide and I may not have chosen the right college for me.
